This project isn't really a how to project.  Maybe if you don't like the look of it... then it's a how not to make a basket.   You know how in the same way a bird knows how to interlock the straw in it's nest.  When weaving with irregular materials,  Just toss them over the fence and buy some easy basket making materials instead.  Unless of course you like that crazy whimsical might have been made by a large bird look.  Then just go gather some free stuff from the woods and make it.  Just do it.  And then send me a photo or a video link because I want to see it.
