Following President Trump’s address to the nation this morning in response to yesterday’s missile strikes in Iraq, Senator Murray gave a speech on the Senate floor regarding President Trump’s actions in Iraq that have led to increased tensions between the United States and Iran. 

During the speech, Senator Murray laid out her principles for weighing decisions involving national security and foreign policy, in addition to her thoughts on what Congress must do to reassert Congressional authority in decisions of war. She reiterated her demand that the President come to Congress to offer evidence justifying his recent actions and obtain Congressional authorization before taking further escalatory action against Iran.
