It’s easy to assume anti-vaxxers are a product of the Facebook misinformation era, but that’s not true. From proto-vaccines (variolations) used in Boston in the 1720s, to the invention and propagation of true vaccines, vaccination has always had its detractors. As we’ll see, at times, medical ignorance and greed did result in legitimate, isolated problems with vaccination. We’ll also look at some of the consistent themes and strategies used in almost every anti-vax movement ever.
