Record flooding hit New Zealand's largest city, Auckland.

A state of emergency has been declared in Auckland. Rain and severe flooding hit the country's largest city. Residents of the most affected areas were ordered to leave their homes. The stream flooded parks, yards and many roads. The depth in some places reached a couple of meters deep.

Cars flooded with water were abandoned on the side of the road.   1.7 million residents experienced power outages. Landslides and many damaged and flooded houses were also recorded. Auckland Airport, the largest in the country, closed due to flooding.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of the northern part of the island.
